Piano-prep Class

The Prep-piano course is a one hour class that introduces you to the piano. This class is geared for kids who have never had a piano lesson, but would like to check it out.  Some children prefer a group setting verses a private lesson, where they can learn with other kids their age. Classes consist of 3-6 kids. No materials are needed as you will receive everything at the first class. Parents be ready to encourage your child and learn the basics of piano together. In class, your child will play simple melodies while learning the note names and reading music. Scales will be introduced through music theory games that we’ll play as a class. During the last class there will be a performance time, in which each child can play one of the songs they learned while in class. Private classes and Zoom classes are available upon request.

Music Theory

Music is the one subject that uses both sides of your brain at the same time. The reasoning is that your creative side is being expressive, but what is the logical side doing? A LOT! Music theory is full of numbers, formulas and counting. While reading notes, you are also reading rhythms, doing small math problems and possibly reading words for all those singers. It can be intense, especially if you don’t understand it. Rochelle has been a music theory specialist for almost 20 years and keeps this complicated subject, positive! Private classes are available upon request.
