Piano
The piano is such a widely used instrument. So why only learn one way? Rochelle likes to figure out what kind of learner you are so she can find the right method for you. Your goals are her priority. For those learners that like a lesson book or those who would rather learn by ear, there’s no wrong way to learn as long as learning is being achieved. She gives a positive learning environment while providing relevant instruction. Playing instruments is a coordination and once that is strong, the possibilities are endless.
Voice
The voice; the invisible instrument. Learn to feel and explore the many sounds of the human voice. Rochelle will guide you in learning how to feel and hear in a way that gains you the control needed to be a confident vocalists. Students can begin exploring at the age of 3, all the way to 103. In lessons you will sing the songs that you love while developing your vocal range, pitch control, breath control and pitch memory. You will also learn how the voice works and how to keep it healthy. Rochelle has extensive knowledge in many genres of music. Together, we will develop a customized plan tailored to each student.
Flute
“As a curious child, Rochelle saw a slim black box on her sisters shelf.” Thirty-two years later, she’s still playing that same instrument in the slim black box. Although she started out being self taught, she has played for a plethora of churches, weddings, funerals, special occasions and with APQ Harmonic (a local band). Rochelle offers lessons to any age and every level - beginner, intermediate and advanced. Whether you are preparing a piece or just always thought the flute might be a great choice, she will lend you her expertise.
Violin
Interested in the violin? Rochelle can get you started in a positive way. Violins range in size and can be learned at a very young age. Many of Rochelle’s students began violin at the age of 3. She will teach you all the correct habits needed in making a good sound. As you learn the instrument, you will also learn how to read music. Beginners of all ages are warmly welcomed to learn the basics of violin playing.
Ukulele
The ukulele is becoming more and more popular. Rochelle picked this instrument up a few years ago, intrigued by it’s sweet sound and ability to accompany the voice so well. Learning chords, melodies and strumming patterns is all you need. Bring your song list and let’s see where the Uke takes you!
Hammond Organ
Like what the Beatles played! Treetop Tempo is excited to have this antique and unique instrument in their line up. Organ playing is very similar to playing the piano/keyboard, only with a kick. Rochelle’s goal is to teach to the individual student. Lesson books, methods and scales will be used to develop skill. Not only will we work on hand coordination but feet too!
Music Theory
Music Theory can be very hard to understand. If you’re intrigued by how music is made, interested in composing or want to know more about how music works, then theory lessons are just what you need. Music is a great world made up of pitch, rhythms, harmony and so much more, it can be hard to comprehend. Rochelle brings a simplistic approach to this language. Working for over 20 years with the Fort Wayne Suzuki Talent Education Program as the theory specialist, she has worked with many people to develop their understanding of music.
Composing
Do you have a tune dancing around in your head? Would you like to put that tune on paper? Rochelle can help with that! With her musically trained ears and knowledge of how harmonies and melodies work, composing will be a great adventure. Our goal will be getting what’s in our head, into the wonderful world of music.
Conducting
Looking for little more confidence in your ensemble leading? Then lessons in conducting may be right for you! Learn the many patterns needed to make the time signatures come to life. Invite your performers into your interpreted sound and be able to feel a tempo marking without using a metronome. These instructional lessons will help you be a more solid conductor for any ensemble.
Drums and Percussion
The first sound of life. The universal heartbeat of Mother Earth. The driving force and emotion in music and film. Drums are more than just an instrument, but a way of life for many. A natural way to ease your aggressions after a long day. Therapy for your mind, body and spirit. Also, an exceptional way to get a remarkable work out in! Allie uses individualized lesson plans tailored to each student to help you build a solid foundation. Utilizing method books, rudiments, stretching techniques, laughter and a smile, Allie will help you develop healthy habits to crush your drumming goals.
